orbix — privacy notice under Swiss FADP and GDPR

Who we are

orbix is a private hobby project without commercial intent. There are no paid features, no advertising, no sponsorships and no marketing tracking. The site is operated in spare time, free of charge.

Basis of data processing

This privacy notice describes how we process personal data, in particular what data we collect and for what purpose. It also covers data sharing, retention periods and your rights.

The collection, processing and use of personal data is subject to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). We collect personal data transparently and in accordance with the principles of proportionality and purpose limitation.

What personal data do we process?

Hosting by Infomaniak

orbix is hosted at Infomaniak (Switzerland). As part of hosting, all data required for operation (in particular IP addresses, server log files, meta and communication data) is processed on Infomaniak's servers. Infomaniak processes this data as a processor exclusively to provide hosting services.

Switzerland has an adequacy decision from the EU Commission, ensuring a data protection standard equivalent to the EU. A signed Data Processing Agreement is in place with Infomaniak (Art. 9 FADP / Art. 28 GDPR, concluded on 2026-05-04). No transfer of data outside Switzerland or the EU/EEA takes place.

Technical access data (server log files)

When visiting the website, the following data may be automatically collected by the web server:

• IP address
• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Referrer URL
• Date and time of the server request
• Pages/files accessed

This data is technically required for stability, security and functionality and is not merged with other data sources.

Player name & score

• Player name: a self-chosen name (2–16 characters). Shown together with your score on the public leaderboard.
• Score & timestamp: the points you reached and the date/time of submission.

Fonts (locally embedded)

This website uses locally embedded fonts for consistent typography. No connection to external servers is made. Therefore no personal data is transmitted to third parties in this context.

Local Storage

Your browser's Local Storage remembers the last player name you used so you don't have to enter it every time. This data never leaves your browser.

Purpose of processing

• Display the public leaderboard (Top 10).
• Protect the service from abuse via rate limits and basic spam filters.
• Run the website technically.

Cookies & Local Storage

No tracking cookies are set. No analytics tools or external ad networks are used. Only technically necessary Local Storage (player name) is used.

SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons this site uses SSL/TLS encryption to protect data in transit. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the browser address bar changing from “http://” to “https://” and the lock icon in your browser bar.

Retention

• Leaderboard: scores are kept indefinitely while the game is operated.
• Server log files (incl. IP): at most 30 days, then automatic rotation/deletion.

Sharing of data

Personal data is only shared with third parties:

• if you have given express consent,
• if we are legally obliged to do so, or
• if this is necessary to protect legitimate interests and no overriding interest on your part exists.

Possible recipients: IT service providers (Infomaniak), authorities or courts. No data is shared with third parties for advertising or analytics purposes.

Your rights

Within the framework of applicable law you have the following rights:

• Access to your stored data (Art. 15 GDPR / Art. 25–27 FADP)
• Rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data (Art. 16 GDPR / Art. 32(1)(a) FADP)
• Erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR / Art. 32(1)(b) FADP)
• Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR / Art. 32(1)(c) FADP)
• Data portability (Art. 20 GDPR / Art. 28 FADP)
• Objection to processing (Art. 21 GDPR / Art. 32 FADP by analogy)

In particular, you may request that your leaderboard entry be removed. To exercise your rights, you may contact us at any time.
